Holiday Activities and Food Programme (HAF)

HAF 2024 is back this year!

What is the HAF programme? – Education and Families (devon.gov.uk)

At Apple Tree Farm, the HAF provision involves groups of 10 children, with differing abilities, working together in the day-to-day activities with our animals and environment.

Alongside this, we may commission external providers of activities or plan trips and outings with the children.

The farm’s term time activities and general expertise lie with supporting children with SEND.  Our HAF offering is to prioritise children who are in receipt of benefits-related free school meals, PLUS meet the extended criteria (ie child with SEND, EHCP, Carer etc)

There will always be a heavily staffed programme for everyone’s enjoyment and for those who required additional support in a group setting.

The Holiday Activities and Food Programme (HAF) has been expanded to cover all of England, and this is the third year that the programme is run at Apple Tree Farm.

This holiday provision is for school-aged children from reception to year 11 (inclusive) who receive benefits-related free school meals.

Benefits-related free school meals (FSM) are available to pupils if their parents are in receipt of one of the qualifying benefits. To check if your child is eligible to apply for the programme, please visit this page Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme – Education and Families (devon.gov.uk) for more information.

APPLE TREE FARM HAF GUIDELINES
* The first step is an EXPRESSION OF INTEREST, completing this step does not guarantee a space but means your interest will be reviewed by the team and spaces allocated in accordance with our HAF admissions policy.
* We will offer ONE SPACE per child, allowing as many children as possible to get a space
* We will contact successful applicants within 7 working days to confirm space allocation, often sooner than this.
* Please only complete ONE expression of interest.
*Priority will be given to children who meet the FSM eligibility AND the additional extended criteria such as having an EHCP, additional needs, young carers or a child in care, etc.
*1:1 support, as always, is limited to one child per day, so only four spaces for children who require that additional support.
* Children must be able to work as part of a group of 10.
