This year, we’ve been blessed with so many opportunities and experiences, our hearts (and our barn) are overflowing! There was also a distinctly heavy cow theme to our beautiful cards and gifts from our children and families, as we continue our efforts to persuade some members of our team to join our cow dream. We hope your holidays are filled with laughter, love, and maybe a little moo-sical cheer! Remember, if you see a Highland cow in a Santa hat, it’s just us trying to spread the holiday spirit! We are very sad to announce that due to a rapid de We are very sad to announce that due to a rapid decline in health, we have had to bring Angelina’s rainbow journey forward to this morning instead of Monday as we had planned and prepared our children for. Angelina has been a constant presence on the farm for several years. Always the first to come up for food, always the first to sniff out the newborn alpaca babies despite not actually liking them in general, always the first to come for cuddles and absolutely the first and only one of our alpaca’s that ever had a fly strike instance due to her always having terrible skin. Have you ever heard of an allergic alpaca? Well, Angelina had terrible hay fever, which is ironic given that hay was a main part of her diet. Always so tolerant and accepting and always in our memories. Our farm team found this morning quite hard to a manage but we would like to share a huge hug of gratitude to our wonderful alpaca vet Jenny and the team @torchfarmvets for handling this difficult time with so much compassion and care. This decision was made with Angelina’s best interests at heart and in a bid to prevent her suffering and it was absolutely the right decision. We would also like to extend our gratitude for all the messages of love and support we have received. We absolutely feel your love today.

As such the rest of the admin team are naturally a little bit panicky and a little bit overwhelmed. Please bear this in mind when you contact us as responses to emails will be much slower than usual… because unfortunately the half of the team that is left is the super slow one. 😁
This week the atmosphere has been filled with a mi This week the atmosphere has been filled with a mix of love and bittersweet emotions as we prepare to say goodbye to our beloved Angelina the alpaca. At 15 years old, Angelina has been a cherished member of our farm family, and her gentle spirit has touched the hearts of everyone, especially the children who have spent countless hours caring for her. In the past few days, we’ve engaged in therapeutic activities that focus on emotional processing and healing. The children have been involved in creating photo cards, drawing pictures, and sharing stories about their favorite moments with Angelina. These activities have not only allowed them to express their feelings but also to celebrate the joy she has brought into their lives. Working closely with the children, we’ve emphasized the importance of saying goodbye in a meaningful way. Discussions about loss and grief have been a central part of our conversations, helping the children understand that while Angelina will no longer be with us physically, her spirit and the memories we share will always remain. As we prepare for her final days, our farm friends have come together to shower Angelina with extra love and care. Even our beloved Toto made a special visit to see her. The children have taken it upon themselves to bring her treats, spend time with her, and simply enjoy her presence. This experience has not only been about saying goodbye but also about understanding the cycles of life and the importance of cherishing every moment. Angelina’s impact on the farm and the children will be cherished forever. As we navigate this difficult time, we are reminded of the beauty of connection and the lessons that come from love, loss, and the memories that last a lifetime.

Richard Tice has really outdone himself this time, Richard Tice has really outdone himself this time, calling the situation where children are wearing ear defenders in schools “insane.” We usually steer clear of political squabbles, but when it comes to our children’s needs, we won’t sit back. Seriously, Richard? If you keep talking like that, we might need to start outfitting our donkeys, and ourselves, with ear defenders just to drown you out! It’s baffling that he’s suggesting we should ignore the needs of neurodiverse kids and ditch the labels. Because clearly, pretending there’s no issue makes everything better, right? The National Autistic Society has set the record straight, saying that the idea of “overdiagnosis” is just plain wrong. And while Tice is busy lamenting the costs of annual EHCP reviews, councils are facing a looming SEND debt of £17.8 billion by 2029. Maybe instead of whining about costs, he should focus on fixing the actual crisis at hand. We’d strongly suggest he starts with his own lack of understanding. #nationalautisticsociety #specialneedseducation
